Some entrepreneurs involved in the trade of fruits and vegetables will be granted tax benefits.
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The President has adopted a decree "On Additional Measures to Increase Export Potential and Develop the Agricultural Product Processing Chain."
According to the decree, the following key goals are set for 2025-2026 to increase agricultural product exports and create a value-added chain:
In 2025, the export volume of fruits, vegetables, and food products is expected to reach US$3.5 billion.
By the end of 2025, phytosanitary permits will be obtained for the export of 30 new types of products to 8 countries. The export of fruits and vegetables to promising markets is projected to reach US$442 million in 2025 and US$575 million in 2026.
Several investment projects will be implemented with a total value of US$40.5 million for the production of packaging for fruits and vegetables, with the volume of exports reaching 2.1 million tons in 2025.
Additionally, until 1 January 2028, entrepreneurs engaged in the sale of fruits and vegetables in modern packaging and meeting a number of conditions will benefit from a reduction in corporate tax and social tax for individuals to 1%. These conditions include: monthly payment of wages to each employee in an amount not less than twice the minimum wage and total revenue from the sale of packaged products constituting at least 50% of total income from the sale of goods and services.
Until 1 April 2027, a reduced customs duty rate of 1% will apply to the import of equipment for planting, harvesting, and sorting legumes.
According to the decree, agricultural enterprises with land plots of at least 5 hectares will be granted permission to build cold storage facilities and facilities for sorting, drying, processing, packaging, water conservation, and water storage. These structures can be placed on 1% of the total land area, but no more than 20 acres, and must comply with the primary permitted use of the land. Construction will be carried out based on an intra-farm land use project.
During the 2025-2026 period, agricultural cooperatives that collect fruits and vegetables from household plots, dehkan and farming households, sort them, and sell them in modern packaging based on contracts will be able to compensate 25% of packaging costs, but not more than 3,000 soums per package. Furthermore, members of agricultural cooperatives involved in harvesting and procurement must undergo training through the "Edukarantin.uz" information system on proper procurement practices and exporting products, and receive the corresponding certificate.
For cooperatives and their certified members, a rating system will be implemented on the "Agroko‘makchi" mobile application, categorizing cooperatives as "green," "yellow," or "red."
Moreover, in order to improve the organization of fruit and vegetable exports and ensure high-quality transport and logistics services (automobile, rail, and air transport), a platform called "E-logistika" will be created to enable direct interaction between exporters and carriers.
