Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The establishment of 23 new leather industry enterprises is planned in Akhangaran district of Tashkent region, the "Uzcharmsanoat" Association said.

A small industrial zone with a total area of 15.7 hectares has been organized in Akhangaran district. Additionally, a directorate for the leather industry technopark has been created.

Currently, seven initiators plan to implement 23 projects in this industrial zone. The total investment amounts to US$31.5 million.

In addition to local entrepreneurs, companies from Russia, China, and Turkey will also implement their projects here. The small industrial zone will house an automated slaughterhouse, a leather processing cluster, shoe production lines, and wool processing factories.

Negotiations are underway with Chinese companies regarding the construction of water treatment facilities in the industrial zone, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the People’s Bank, and the "Uzcharmsanoat" Association.

The khokimiyat (administration) of Tashkent region has already begun allocating an additional 20 hectares of land adjacent to the industrial zone. Once allocated, the plots will be put up for auction. The association is currently reviewing proposals from new entrepreneurs.
