Some 220 km of roads constructed and reconstructed in 9m
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan constructed and reconstructed over 200 km of automobile roads, which are part of the Uzbek national automobile road, in nine months of 2012, Deputy Chairperson of Uzavtoyol state joint stock company Shukhrat Nazarov said.

He said that these work were conducted within the execution of resolution “On speeding up development of infrastructure, transport and communication construction in 2011-2015” from 21 December 2010.

Uzavtoyol enterprises executed construction and assembly works for over 208 billion soums (conducted by foreign companies on construction works, which were financed due to funds of the Republic Road Fund under the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan).

It was noted that Uzbekistan constructed and reconstructed 54 km of automobile road A-380 Guzar-Bukhara-Nukus-Beinau at the area of 812-866 km, 20 km of automobile roads M39 Almaty-Bishkek-Tashkent-Termez at the area of 939-1025 in Jizzakh region.

The company said that the country also reconstructed and constructed 18 km of automobile roads of A373 Tashkent-Osh at the area of 190-208 km in Namangan region, 10 km of automobile road M37 Samarkand-Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi at the area of 63-116 km in Samarkand region, 51 km of automobile road A378 Samarkand-Karshi at the area of 6-57 km, 37 km of automobile road “Gulistan-Ahangaran” at the area of 68-105 km in Tashkent region, and others.

In line with investment programme till 2015, it is planned to construct and reconstruct 1,487 km of automobile roads with transfer them to 4-lane roads, which is part of the Uzbek national automobile road. It is also planned to buy 444 units of road construction equipment for US$34.9 million, which will be used for maintenance and repair of roads of general use, modernization of production and industrial bases of 24 road construction enterprises.

The resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan “On programme of repairing automobile roads of general use and agriculture inter-economic roads in 2012” from 9 April 2012 became key factor to improve roads of general use.

The resolution envisages capital repair and repair of 398 km of automobile roads of international and state importance. Some 225 billion were issued to these works. Besides, over 223 billion soums were issued to repair of local and inter-economic roads.

Shukhrat Nazarov said it is planned to construct and reconstruct 517 km of automobile roads in 2012, which are part of Uzbek national highway (352 of asphalt carpet and 165 km of cement payment).

Uzavtoyol said that Uzbekistan will construct and reconstruct 2,306 km of roads of Uzbek national highway in 2011-2015, of which 1,410 will be constructed and reconstructed. It is also planned to improve parameters of 896 km of automobile roads to transfer them from 10 tonnes of axial load to 13 tonnes.

In 2012, Uzbekistan plans to construct 544 meters of overpasses. The company said that this year, it is planned to carry out capital reconstruction of 204 km of roads and current repair works – 3,500 km of roads.

Uzavtoyol pays special attention to development of roadside infrastructure and service along the Uzbek national highway. In 2012, it is planned to construct 240 objects, including 19 camping-sites, 18 motels, 36 petroleum filling stations, 49 gas filling compressor stations, 78 emergency and medical service points, 31 parking stations and 9 objects of modern tourism services.

Shukhrat Nazarov also added that Uzavtoyol will receive six sets of specialized mobile asphalt complexes for US$68 million in 2012. He said that the project is financed due to resources of the Republican Road Fund and loan of Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan. He said that the equipment will be supplied in November fully.

Total extension of automobile roads in Uzbekistan makes up 184,000 km, of which 42,625 km are general use roads. Some 2,755 km of roads are part of Uzbek national highway.

Besides, there are 67,274 km of inter-economic rural roads, 61,664 km of rural and city streets, 5,462 km of economic roads of enterprises and 6,631 km of departmental inspector roads.
