The programme was adopted in connection with announcement of 2012 as “The Year of Family” in Uzbekistan. The programme is aimed at implementing a complex of measures directed at strengthening and developing family institute as basics of society, lifting works on strengthening legal and social-economic interests of family to new level, etc.

The letter said that well-being and morale climate in any society displayed in, first of all, strengthen and prosperity of the family.

Islam Karimov said that announcement of 2012 as the Year of Family will be important stage in implementation of humanitarian principle “Healthy family – healthy society, strong and stable country”.

He said that Uzbekistan approved the state programme “The Year of Family” and it is planned to direct 1.5 trillion soums and US$114 million.

Uzbek leader said that it is necessary to consolidate efforts of the state, NGOs and people to achieve put tasks in the programme.
