Economy 25/02/2010 Some 135 objects privatized in Uzbekistan in 2009

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Some 135 enterprises and objects have been privatized in Uzbekistan in line with the Denationalization and Privatization Programme, according to the State Property Committee of Uzbekistan.

Largest number of objects was privatized in Tashkent city (36.3% from total number of privatized objects in Uzbekistan), Tashkent region (14.1%), Surkhandarya region (10.4%) and Ferghana region (8.9%).

According to data, largest share of privatized objects fell to share of local administrations’ property (59.3%), Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management (17.8%), Public Education Ministry (4.4%), Health Ministry and Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Combine (2.2% each), Uzpakhtasanoat and Navoi Mining and Metallurgy Combine (1.5% each).

Uzbekistan received 35.7 billion soums from privatization and denationalization in the reporting period, the committee noted.

About 45.4% of received funds came from privatization and denationalization from Tashkent city (45.4% from all receipts), Ferghana region (15.3%), Tashkent region (10.8%), Samarkand region (6.4%), Bukhara region (3.9%) and Khorezm region (3.4%).
