Solar and Wind Power Plants Supplied 17% of Uzbekistan’s Electricity in July

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In July 2025, Uzbekistan’s solar and wind power plants generated 1.246 billion kWh of electricity, setting a new national record, the Ministry of Energy reported. This output accounted for 17 percent of the country’s total electricity generation for the month.

Currently, Uzbekistan operates 11 solar photovoltaic stations and 4 wind farms with a combined capacity of 4,119 megawatts. These facilities were behind the record volume of green energy produced.

Of the total output in July, solar plants generated 760.9 million kWh, while wind farms produced 485.4 million kWh. According to the ministry, this helped save 377.5 million cubic meters of natural gas and prevented the release of 1.12 million tons of harmful gases into the atmosphere.

For comparison, in May this year, solar and wind stations produced 1.104 billion kWh, which at the time set a new record. The July figure exceeded that milestone by 142 million kWh.

The ministry recalled that in 2022, two solar power plants generated only 434 million kWh, while in 2023 the figure rose to 576.9 million kWh. Last year, total output from solar and wind facilities reached 4.86 billion kWh.

In addition, in July 2025, combined generation from the country’s solar, wind, and hydropower plants reached 2.089 billion kWh, or 27 percent of total monthly output. This volume saved 633 million cubic meters of natural gas and avoided the release of 1.88 million tons of harmful gases into the atmosphere.

According to the ministry, this amount of electricity is equivalent to the seven-month consumption of 1.492 million households or the annual consumption of 870,000 households. The ministry also noted that as of 2 August 2025, the cumulative output from solar and wind plants since the start of the year had surpassed 6 billion kWh.
