Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 26 April 2025, the funeral ceremony of Pope Francis was held at St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.

As an official representative of Uzbekistan, the First Deputy Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sodik Safoyev, attended the event.

The ceremony was attended by leaders from many countries, members of royal families, and prominent religious figures. It is worth noting that Pope Francis passed away on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88 in his residence in the Vatican.

The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, expressed his condolences on his passing and sent a message of sympathy to the Camerlengo of the Roman Catholic Church, Cardinal Kevin Farrell.
