Socio-economic development of the city of Tashkent for 2017-2022

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Experts from the Center for Economic Research and Reform presented the main changes in the socio-economic development of active reforms that took place in the city of Tashkent in 2017-2022.

In 2017-2022, the gross regional product (GRP) of the capital increased from 49.3 trillion soums to 150 trillion soums, and its real growth rate increased by 71%. This change allowed to increase the volume of GRP per capita by 50.7 million soums. Also, over the years, the population increased by 19.9% and exceeded 3 million people.

As a result of the launch of new industrial production forces in the capital, the volume of industrial production for six years increased from 30.5 trillion soums to 107.3 trillion soums, an increase of 43.4%. The share of industry and construction in GRP increased from 40.9% to 43.6%.

During this period, due to the high demand for market services, the volume of services provided increased by 2.4 times, from 38.7 trillion soums to 137.4 trillion soums. In 2022, the share of the service sector in GDP was 56.4%.

Over the past 6 years, US$26 billion of investment has been disbursed in Tashkent through measures aimed at further improving the investment climate in our country.

As a result of measures aimed at supporting and increasing business activity, the region’s export index increased from US$2.7 billion to US$4.6 billion. Also, the number of enterprises operating in the capital increased from 53 thousand in 2017 to 106 thousand in 2022, or 2 times. During this period, about 1.1 million new jobs were created.

Over the past 6 years, 5,886,000 m2 of housing has been put into operation in the capital due to measures aimed at providing the population with new modern housing. Also, 7 thousand places were created in preschool institutions, 51.1 thousand places in schools and 2.2 thousand new places in hospitals.
