Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Snap presidential elections in Uzbekistan will be held on 9 July 2023.

The President of Uzbekistan signed a corresponding decree.

Earlier, on May 8, Mirziyoyev signed a constitutional law allowing snap elections of the head of state by decision of the incumbent. The document entered into force from the moment of its publication. Previously, snap presidential elections in Uzbekistan were allowed only if the incumbent head of the country is unable to perform his duties for three months.

“When the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan calls snap elections for the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, elections are held within two months in full accordance with this code,” the text of the law says.
