The committee said 6.6% of the GDP fell to share of small enterprises, 18.7% to micro firms and 17.8% to individual entrepreneurs.
The small businesses provided jobs to 7.66 million people or 71.8% of all employed people in the country. The committee added that 52.9% of all employed worked for individual (informal) sector and 18.9% to enterprises and micro firms.
This sector produced industrial products for 1.6 trillion soums (up 33.6%), which made up 12.2% of total industrial output in Uzbekistan. The sector manufactured agriculture goods for 6.21 trillion soums (up 8.1%) or 97.7% of total gross agricultural production.
The committee said in its quarterly report the small businesses directed 19.6% of total investments to fixed capital and 51.5% to construction works.
Small enterprises contributed 46.2% or 3.15 trillion soums to the total volume of retail trade turnover (up 23.8%) and 48.2% or over 1 trillion soums to the total volume of paid services rendered to population (up 18%).
In January-September 2007, the small business entities exported goods worth US$912 million (14.7% of total export of Uzbekistan) and imported goods worth US$1.22 billion (31.5% of total import of the country). Their share in the total foreign trade turnover was 21.2%.
