Small businesses of Uzbekistan produce 45.1% of GDP
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Small businesses of Uzbekistan produced 45.1% of gross domestic product (GDP) in nine months of 2009 compared to 45.3% in the same period of 2008.

The sector employed over 8.343 million people or 73.8% of all employed in economy. The individual sector employed 6.285 million people and small enterprises and microfirms provided jobs for 2.058 million people.

Share of small businesses in industrial output of Uzbekistan was 3.361 trillion soums or 16.6% of industrial production of the country. The growth rate made up 19.6% year-on-year.

The volume of used investments comprised 2.27 trillion soums or 25.2% of total used investments in Uzbekistan in the reporting period. The growth rate comprised 42.8% year-on-year.

Small businesses formed 45.5% of total retail trade turnover, which made up 5.314 trillion soums (up 12.5%) and 45.8% of services, which comprised 1.969 trillion soums (up 10.1%)

The sector exported products for US$1.277 billion (up 22.2% year-on-year), which comprised 13.9% of Uzbekistan’s exports. Imports of the sector grew by 32.9% year-on-year to US$3.082 billion. Share of small businesses in total imports of Uzbekistan was 45.1%.
