Gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan made up 7.795 trillion soums or grew by 7.9% year-on-year in January-March 2009.
Small businesses provided jobs to 8.098 million persons or 73.7% of total persons employed in the economy, including 6.285 million persons of the individual sector and 1.813 million persons of small enterprises and microfirms;
The sector produced industrial output for 907.2 billion soums (14.1% of total industrial production in the country) or up 11.4% year-on-year.
Small enterprises utilized 416.4 billion soums or 15.7% of the total volume of utilized investments, executed construction works worth 403.4 billion soums (32.9% of total construction works) or up 15% year-on-year.
The sector ensured the growth of freight turnover of motor transport by 5.7% (73.5% of total freight turnover) and passenger turnover by 8.6% (84.9% of total passenger turnover).
Small enterprises formed 42% of total retail trade turnover, which made up 1.414 trillion soums (up 8.6% year-on-year) and 38.3% of total paid services rendered to population, which comprised 453.7 billion soums (up 6% year-on-year).
Exports of small businesses grew by 16.8% year-on-year to US$343.4 million in the first quarter of 2009, which comprised 13.8% of total export of Uzbekistan. Small businesses imported goods for US$1.033 billion (45.2% of total import) or 60.4% year-on-year.
