Sixth round of political consultations between Uzbekistan and Vietnam takes place
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 4 March 2025, the sixth round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam took place in Tashkent.
Held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and friendship, the meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to deepening multifaceted cooperation.
The delegations were led by Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Ilkhom Khaydarov, and Vietnam, Le Thi Thu Hang. The discussions covered a wide range of issues, including political and diplomatic dialogue, the enhancement of trade, economic, and investment ties, and the expansion of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized the long-standing friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Vietnam. “Our countries share not only history but also fraternal ties. More than 3,000 Vietnamese students who studied in Uzbekistan in the 1970s and 1980s have become a true bridge of friendship between our nations. Many of them now hold prominent positions in society, contributing to the strengthening of Uzbek-Vietnamese cooperation,” she stated.
The parties noted with satisfaction the growth in mutual trade volumes and the increase in joint projects in areas such as the food industry, agriculture, and aquaculture. Additionally, there has been a significant rise in tourism flows between the two countries, reflecting the mutual interest of citizens in each other’s cultures and traditions.
Special attention was given to promising areas of cooperation, including high-level and top-level visits. In particular, the parties discussed the upcoming visit to Uzbekistan of a delegation led by the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Tran Thanh Man, who will participate in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in April 2025.
The meeting participants emphasized the importance of effectively utilizing the potential of the Uzbek-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation. Both sides expressed mutual interest in expanding the legal and contractual framework, which will help elevate bilateral relations to a new level.
The two countries also agreed to continue cooperation within international and regional organizations.
The Vietnamese delegation expressed support for Uzbekistan’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), opening up new opportunities for regional partnership development.
The sixth round of political consultations marked an important step in strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Vietnam. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further developing bilateral relations, based on mutual respect, trust, and shared interests.
This event underscores the dynamic development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Vietnam, paving the way for new joint projects and initiatives.
