Uzbekistan 02/07/2007 Sixth annual ceremony of graduation of clinicians of Legal Clinic under UWED

On 30 June, 2007 in Legal Clinic under the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent (UWED) will hold sixth annual ceremony of graduation of clinicians. The main target of which are to sizing up and presentation with certificates of graduating clinicians of Legal Clinic 2004-2007.

"The knowledge you have got within three years in Legal Clinic should serve in the aim of humanism and protection of human rights. Lawyers plays an important role in society particular in countries which are in transition, that’s why formation of future lawyers with formed skills, acquired in Legal Clinic will serve as a useful support in formation of first-rate lawyer," noted the head of Legal Clinic, Delegate of Lower chamber of Oliy Majlis Ziyodulla Ubaydullaev.

Summing up the work with graduating-clinicians, one can make sure again and again, that the Legal Clinic is in a way laboratory, where students perform a researches in legislation, in theory of civil process, becoming skills of scientific thought. Almost all named skills beyond constitutes a professional lawyer. This class of graduates as previous one became not only theoretical, but also practical skills, namely: ability to carry on negotiations, defend interests and rights in courts, acquirement of legal technique, analytical skills and use the legislation in real, concrete situations.

In support of aforesaid there are following responses of graduating clinicians:

Rustam Tursunov: "Legal Clinic developed in me professional skills of a lawyer , taught me to listen to the people, to hear what they feel. I’m sure gained professional skills and practical knowledge will facilitate me in future professional career."

Natalya Cherkashina: "In Legal Clinic I’ve got practice and fixed theoretical knowledge. At University we have a theory, in Legal Clinic we have a real, vital practice we saw how it works we saw the real mechanism and even participated at it. Legal Clinic joined students and almost became a home."

Every graduating class has its own zest, today we graduate students not only from University of World economy and diplomacy, but also from National University of Uzbekistan, Tashkent state school of law.

Jamila Nurjanova National University of Uzbekistan: "It is great that Legal Clinic educates students from other law schools, because it is a place where one can gain professional skills and practical knowledge and I’m one of them."

This training is organized within the UNDP project "Legal Aid and Legal Literacy for Better Access to Justice". The main objectives of the project are to improve access to justice for people who cannot afford or have limited access to legal services, such as women, children, the poor, the elderly and people with disabilities and to increase quality of legal services through training of law students.
