Six Above-Ground Metro Stations in Tashkent to Temporarily Close
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent Metro will temporarily suspend operations at six stations along its above-ground line to allow for scheduled maintenance works.
According to the metro administration, beginning from 2 August, train service will be halted on the section between Tekhnopark and Yangiabad stations on the 30 Years of Independence of Uzbekistan line. Service will resume once all necessary works have been completed.
To accommodate passengers, large-capacity shuttle buses, known as metro buses, will operate daily from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. along the route between Tekhnopark and Kipchak.
The restrictions are being implemented in phases. At the end of May, Kipchak and Turan stations were closed, and on June 28, service was suspended between Yangiabad and Kuruvchilar, affecting six additional stations.
The metro authority emphasized that these measures are necessary to ensure safe operations and improve passenger service on the new sections. The maintenance and repair works are expected to be completed by early September.
Earlier, in late June, Transport Prosecutor Ikrom Narimov carried out an inspection of the reconstruction works. According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, the working group identified a number of shortcomings and errors. The responsible organizations have been instructed to promptly address the violations and bring all works into full compliance with approved project requirements. Prosecutors will maintain ongoing oversight of the process.
