SISF gets consultative status at ECOSOC
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Social Initiatives Support Fund (SISF) received special consultative status under the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The decision was adopted at one of the session of the Committee on non-governmental organizations on 9 February 2011.

Consultative status at ECOSOC also received Agewell Foundation; Association pour le développement durable; Instituto para la Participation y el Desarrollo INPADE – Asociation Civil; Univers de Solidarité et de développement; Women Watch Africa; Muhammadiyah Association; Rufaida Health Foundation (RHF); Social Initiative Support Found; Terra-1530; OceanCare; and United Help for International Children.

Consultative status will allow NGOs to contribute to the work of the UN, including to ECOSOC, its commissions and bodies. They can participate in conferences and sessions of the UN and its structures, make statement, share experience, appoint representatives at the UN offices in New York, Vienna, Geneva and other regional UN commissions.

Special consultative status will allow SISF to participate in the UN activities and make recommendations on international cultural-humanitarian cooperation, development dialogues among nations, educational issues, science, culture, art, healthcare and others.

The Nongovernmental Noncommercial Organization Social Initiatives Support Fund (SISF) was founded in October 2006.

The goal of the SISF is to consolidate efforts of civil society active members of Uzbekistan for improvement life quality of citizens’ that need social support.

Main objectives of the SISF are development and implementation of national social programs in cooperation with partners, fundraising from local and international donors for implementation of social programs and projects, funding social programs and projects in the form of grants, establishing sustainable partnership relations with local NGOs in regions and international organizations accredited in Uzbekistan as well.

Main areas of Fund’s activity are healthcare, education, social support, social infrastructure, and environment.
