Siloviye Mashini to modernize Charvak hydropower station
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia’s Open joint stock company “Siloviye Mashini” (OJSC Power Machines) will modernize Charvak hydropower station in Tashkent region of Uzbekistan.

The Russian company will start modernization of Charvak hydropower station at the end of 2012. The cost of the project is US$53.9 million. The contract will be implemented within three year.

Energo-News.ru reported quoting source in Uzbekenergo state joint stock company, currently the orders for equipment supply were placed. In the end of the year, the supplies of the first party of equipment and modernization of the station will be started.

In May 2012, OJSC Power Machines and unitary enterprise “Kaskad Urta-Chirchiq hydropower station”, which was part of Uzbekenergo state joint stock company, signed a contract on modernization four hydraulic units of Charvak hydropower station in Uzbekistan. The sum of contract was not announced.

Modernization of Charvak hydropower station will allow to increase its capacity from 155 to 157 megawatt, which will help to produce additionally 120 million kilowatt-hour a year.

Charvak hydropower station is located in northern Tashkent in spur of Western Tien Shan, which is main and the most powerful (620 megawatt) hydropower station in Chirchiq-Bozsu cascade. It has four hydraulic units, mixed-flow turbines and generators, which were also produced at enterprises of OJSC Power Machines.
