Silkworm breeders of Uzbekistan produce 25,000 tonnes of cocoons
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Silkworm breeders of Uzbekistan have produced more than 25,000 tonnes of cocoons and met the annual contractual obligations.

According to the information of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan, in the current season, 44,000 farms cultivated 443,500 boxes of silkworm. The bulk of the harvest was higher grades. Average yield from a box made up 57 kg.

Silkworm breeders of Surkhandarya, Samarkand, Bukhara, Jizzakh, Tashkent, Kashkadarya and Fergana regions, which are among the firsts fulfilled the contractual obligations, making worthy contribution to crop harvesting, UzA reported.

It added that agrotechnical measures have been carried out at 55,000 hectares of mulberry tree to improve yield and quality of cocoons.
