Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 July 2020, an online meeting was organized between the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development and its other employees with representatives of the Malaysian University of Technologies MARA.
The meeting was attended by the head of the International Relations Department, the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management and his deputy, as well as other professors of this influential university.
The meeting discussed such issues as the establishment of academic cooperation with the International University of Tourism Silk Road in Samarkand, with the aforementioned university, in addition, the issue of inviting professors to take part in the lessons and testing of the Uzbek university, as well as the issue of obtaining a joint diploma organize the study of our students in Malaysia and their students in the city of Samarkand.
The head of the MARA University noted that he was ready to switch to practical cooperation on the basis of a previously signed memorandum.
MARA University of Technology is one of the largest universities in the world. The university has over 500 scientific disciplines and programs. It has 168,000 students, including international students in the day and evening programs. Training is conducted in English only. MARA University of Technology is a state university in Malaysia, was organized in 1956 as a training center for the development of industry and agriculture and infrastructure in Malaysia in terms of the number of teachers and students is the largest university. The MARA University of Technology is considered the largest university in Malaysia by the number of students, and there are 34 branch campuses throughout the country.
In total, over 500 training programs are offered. The direction of tourism of the MARA University in 2020 took 31st place among the universities in the world that are involved in the field of tourism. The Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management of MARA University was organized in 1967 to train future specialists in the field of "Hospitality and Tourism" and teaches this faculty in four areas: Hotel Management Tourism Management Art of Culinary and Gastronomy Food Management, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management can offer everything degrees of higher education (preparatory courses in this field, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral studies).
The number of students educated in this field today is about 6,000. To support the international exchange program, the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in the past has accepted students from countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea, Japan and the Netherlands to participate in these exchange programs. Over the past 3 years, the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management has received more than 50 students from these countries. In addition, this faculty is engaged in the creation of special academic programs in foreign universities.
In addition to the student exchange program, the faculty also actively participated in the faculty exchange program.
The Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management is also actively involved in the program to attract renowned researchers and scientists to participate in special lectures of the MARA University of Technology. Among the invitees are A. Parasuraman (Serv-Qual Guru), Barbara Almanza (editor-in-chief of the magazine of high indices), Barry O’Mahony (dean of the famous Ecole Hoteliere De Lausanne in Switzerland) and others. The Department of Postgraduate Education (PSD) offers four main programs for candidates in master’s and doctoral studies. In connection with the rapid expansion of the university’s work to accept students from abroad, work has recently begun in this area to strengthen international relations.
