Silk enterprises to be established in Tashkent Region using Chinese expertise

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Modern silk enterprises are planned to be established in the Tashkent region using Chinese expertise.

This was discussed in a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Zulayho Makhkamova, khokim Zoyir Mirzaev, and Chinese partners.

New centralized projects for growing silkworm cocoons are planned for plantations in the Pskent, Buka, and Chinaz districts.

In 2024, Uzbekistan plans to grow 460,000 silkworm eggs (grains), 500,000 in 2025, and 530,000 grains in 2026.

It is expected that by 2026, Uzbekistan’s silk exports will exceed $191 million.

By 2026, the production of raw silk in Uzbekistan is intended to reach 3.3 thousand tons, and silk yarn production to 2.3 thousand tons.
