Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Malaysian company Market Boy will begin shrimp farming in three regions of Uzbekistan, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of the country.

Currently, representatives from the ministry are on an official visit to Malaysia, where negotiations are underway to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector.

During these talks, important agreements were signed to launch a shrimp farming project in Uzbekistan. The project will be implemented in the Bukhara, Kashkadarya, and Khorezm regions with the support of one of Malaysia’s leading companies, Market Boy. The project will use advanced technologies developed in Malaysia and play a key role in the development of aquaculture in Uzbekistan.

Special attention is being paid to the fact that the shrimp produced under the project will be certified according to international halal standards adopted in Malaysia.

This will create opportunities for expanding both the domestic and international markets for Uzbek products. Given the growing demand for halal products, the project will also have a significant impact on increasing Uzbekistan’s export potential.

The development of shrimp farming in the country will be important not only for meeting domestic market needs but also for producing products aimed at export. The project’s implementation will create new jobs, introduce innovative technologies, and improve the country’s food security.

Cooperation with Malaysia in this area, based on its successful experience, will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the diversification of Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector.
