Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 October, residence of the world-famous French actor Gerard Depardieu in the Paris hosted a meeting to discuss a project of shooting documentary about Uzbekistan tentatively titled “Silk Road”.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to France S. Rustambaev, Director General of Uzbekkino F. Abdukhalikov, Director General of the French production company B-Tween Production Arno Friille. It should be noted that the State Committee for the Development of Tourism of Uzbekistan and the Uzbekistan Havo Yollari are also co-organizers of this unique project.
The parties discussed the practical aspects of the film project. As conceived by the authors of the film, through the prism of perception of the protagonist - Gerard Depardieu, the audience will be presented with a fundamentally new perspective on Uzbekistan. So, for example, moving away from the usual routes and patterns, the film group sets the task of uncovering new unknown faces of Uzbekistan for French viewers.
For this purpose, the project organizers are considering the possibility of filming in the most unusual and mysterious places of Uzbekistan. This is a unique outpost on the banks of the Amu Darya - Alexandria Oksianskaya, Buddhist and Kushan monuments, such as Fayaztepe, the tomb of the prophet of the three religions of St. Daniel and others.
Particular attention in the film will be given to the role and essence of the religion of Islam in matters of education.
“It is symbolic that our meeting takes place on the anniversary of the meeting of the Presidents of France and Uzbekistan in Paris,” said actor Gerard Depardieu, receiving guests at his home. - Here in France, everyone is aware of the unique reforms and openness policies being carried out today in Uzbekistan. The world famous actor was also presented with the project “Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan in the collections of the world”, to which Gerard Depardieu praised.
“Your country is undertaking comprehensive efforts to preserve its rich cultural and spiritual heritage. This is a real fusion of civilizations, empires, religions and cultures. Such a cautious attitude of Uzbekistan to its property causes special respect,” he said.
In addition, the organizers of the project held a meeting with top managers of the Paris Premiere TV channel, represented by Catherine Schöfer, Director General of the TV channel. An agreement was reached on showing the film on this channel in February-March 2020. At the meeting, the Director General announced the readiness of the TV channel to show a film about Uzbekistan with the participation of Gerard Depardieu in February-March 2020. The parties also discussed issues of cooperation between the Paris Premiere TV channel and the National Association of Electronic Mass Media of Uzbekistan.
