Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Sherzod Khidoyatov, Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, has been elected President of the Uzbekistan Weightlifting Federation.
His candidacy was approved at the Federation’s report-election meeting, which took place as part of the 2024 year-end summary and discussions about plans for 2025.
Previously, since 2012, the Federation had been led by Batyr Zakirov, who resigned in July 2024 due to health reasons from his post as Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services.
As a result, the responsibilities of the Minister were transferred to his First Deputy Sherzod Khidoyatov, who has now also taken the position of President of the sports organization, succeeding Zakirov.
