Shavkat Umurzakov meets with the delegation of St. Petersburg

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Acting khokim of Tashkent Shavkat Umurzakov held a meeting with a delegation from St. Petersburg headed by Vice Governor of the region Kirill Polyakov.

Thanking the guests for the visit, he noted that the strategic partnership and large-scale cooperation between our countries is effectively carried out at the regional level as well. Noting the multifaceted cooperation of the city of Tashkent with St. Petersburg, he emphasized the importance of implementing joint investment projects, as well as cooperation in the field of trade, industry, education, culture, tourism, construction and modern technologies, strengthening relations between entrepreneurs of both sides, mutually beneficial economic directions.

Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg Evgeny Grigoriev, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome, and also said that the meeting was held during the days of a major and prestigious international event in Tashkent “Innoprom. Central Asia” is also a landmark fact.

Petersburgers expressed special gratitude for the courage and tolerance of the Uzbek people during the Second World War. Recognizing that Tashkent is developing in all aspects, that the modern infrastructure and services of the city are at a high level, he invited the delegation of the capital and stressed that this official visit to St. Petersburg will be important in expanding and developing relations in various directions.

Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Kirill Polyakov spoke about the work carried out in the field of road transport infrastructure, in particular, to provide the population with high-quality transport services, prevent traffic jams, and the results of the introduction of innovative technologies.

Sergei Nefyodov, Deputy General Director of Radar MMS JSC, spoke about the measures taken under the Smart City project and said that drones are used along with cameras to regulate traffic, prevent traffic jams, and reduce crime.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on new equipment and technologies used in construction and public utilities.

The parties informed that practical dialogues would be continued.
