Shavkat Mirziyoyev visits yurt exhibition in Nukus

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited a yurt exhibition organized in the "Oqqush" complex in the city of Nukus.

The initiative for such a project was discussed during the President’s trip to the region in 2022. Following the President’s directives, more than fifty hectares of land have been developed, with numerous yurts constructed. The largest yurt, with a diameter of 42 meters and a height of 22 meters, houses the administration, a dining area, and other facilities. It serves as a venue for cultural events, various gatherings, and forums.

The complex features yurts representing Turkic peoples such as the Karakalpaks, Kazakhs, Turkmens, Kyrgyz, Bashkirs, as well as the surrounding areas of Karakalpakstan. These yurts showcase the history, culture, and lifestyle of these brotherly nations.

The President toured these yurts.

"We share common roots and a shared destiny. It is essential to increase the number of such events and to foster the friendship among our peoples. We must preserve the traditional crafts, pass them on to the younger generation, promote sustainability, and develop children’s literature in their native languages," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The complex also includes an artificial lake, an island, and a hotel. In a short period, these additions have transformed the area into a popular tourist destination. Visitors are particularly interested in exploring the yurts, national clothing, and household items.

Concluding his visit to Karakalpakstan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev returned to Tashkent.
