Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part in the ceremony of laying the first stone of the New Tashkent project and will launch the construction of new energy facilities in the Tashkent region, the press service of the President reports.

At the first stage, it is planned to build up an area of 6,000 hectares. Promising areas for construction, schemes of the main roads connecting the capital with the new city have been developed.

The project should become a new administrative and economic center. It will be located to the east of the capital, on the territory of the Yukorichirchik and Urtachirchik districts, and will be designed for 800 thousand inhabitants.

It will house ministries and departments, higher educational institutions, medical organizations, a theater, a library, hotels, housing and parks. It is envisaged that the territory of green zones will be 363 hectares.
