Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 21 November, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed proposals aimed at increasing youth engagement in sports.
As part of the Uzbekistan – 2030 strategy and the State Program for the Year of Youth and Business Support, significant opportunities are being created for young people. Currently, over 10 million people participate in mass sports, with various events being held nationwide, including in regions, educational institutions, and workplaces.
The state program emphasizes the development and promotion of team sports, with a detailed set of measures already drafted.
One initiative involves organizing team sports competitions such as the Mahalla League and the School League. Additionally, it is proposed to establish sports clubs within state universities and hold tournaments like the Student League, the Minister’s Cup, and the Rector’s Cup.
Support will also be extended to national leagues for team sports, while local authorities are tasked with creating regional sports clubs. A key part of the program will involve identifying and selecting talented youth using the electronic system ERP Sport.
Special attention is being given to creating additional opportunities for young people to engage in regular sports activities. Proposals include designating Thursdays as Physical Education and Sports Day. Sports school coaches will receive bonuses based on their level of youth engagement and achievements.
Furthermore, a new position of mass sports scout coach will be introduced, responsible for working across multiple mahallas and educational institutions. Coaches who organize sports clubs in mahallas will also be provided with additional incentives.
The President emphasized that sports play a crucial role in the state’s youth policy and highlighted the importance of creating conditions for the comprehensive development of the younger generation.
