Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  On 5 December, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on the priorities for the development of the country’s automotive industry for 2025.

The topic was previously raised last month, and after a critical assessment of the earlier plans, improved measures were developed.

The main focus was on increasing production volumes and improving product quality. Currently, over 400,000 vehicles are sold annually in Uzbekistan, and with the growth of household incomes, this number is expected to continue increasing. This creates new opportunities to meet domestic demand.

Additionally, in light of Uzbekistan’s upcoming accession to the World Trade Organization, the President emphasized the need to enhance the competitiveness of local manufacturers. Key tasks included improving vehicle quality and increasing the level of local production.

In particular, it was noted that by localizing 60 parts for BYD vehicles, the cost of electric cars is expected to decrease by 2025. The company’s leadership highly valued the potential of Uzbek enterprises, and the President instructed to more actively use the opportunities of the Localization Support Center and increase production volumes in cooperation with regional enterprises.

Export became another key topic. In recent years, over 40,000 automotive components have been exported from Uzbekistan to neighboring countries. In 2025, the industry’s export volume is expected to increase to $700 million. The President highlighted the importance of bringing bus and truck manufacturers from Samarkand to international markets.

The head of state also emphasized the economic and social importance of the automotive industry, stressing the need for its adaptation to modern requirements, ensuring stable production, and improving marketing strategies to further enhance the quality and popularity of products.
