Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation with leading companies from Saudi Arabia was discussed during a meeting between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Chairman of the Saudi-Uzbek Business Council, as well as the Chairman of ACWA Power, Muhammad Abunayyan.
The Uzbek President expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of a fruitful partnership with ACWA Power, a strategic investor in Uzbekistan’s "green" energy sector. To date, four projects worth approximately $3 billion have been successfully implemented, and the portfolio of current projects totals $15 billion.
During the meeting, a ceremony was held to launch several joint projects: two wind power stations with a capacity of 500 MW each in the Bukhara region were connected to the grid, and the construction of two solar power stations with a total capacity of 1 GW in the Samarkand region and an energy storage system with a capacity of 334 MW in the Tashkent region commenced.
Particular attention was given to the implementation of projects in the modernization of energy, transport, and utilities infrastructure, the development of information and communication technologies, the textile industry, agriculture, and other priority sectors.
The importance of expanding cooperation with leading Saudi companies through the joint Business Council was also emphasized, which will strengthen economic and investment relations between the two countries.
