Shavkat Mirziyoyev holds meeting with heads of Central Asian parliamentary delegations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 7 April, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the heads of parliamentary delegations from Central Asian countries, who arrived in Uzbekistan to take part in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
The meeting was attended by Erlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic; Faizali Idizoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Republic of Tajikistan; and Dunyagozel Gulmanova, Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
The distinguished guests conveyed their sincere greetings and best wishes to the President of Uzbekistan on behalf of their respective heads of state, emphasizing the significance of holding such a major international event in the region for the first time.
During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to further strengthen multifaceted cooperation, enhance good neighborly relations, and deepen strategic partnership and alliance among the fraternal countries of Central Asia.
They highly praised the fruitful outcomes of the first “Central Asia – European Union” summit and the Climate Forum held on 4 April in Samarkand.
The participants noted with satisfaction the intensification of contacts at the highest and high levels, and emphasized the historic importance of the agreements reached on the delimitation of state borders and the signing of the Treaty on the Tripoint of the Borders of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan in Khujand.
Over the past few years, trade between countries in the region has increased significantly, cross-border trade zones have been established, and joint projects are being successfully implemented in various sectors of the economy, including at the regional level. Cultural and educational exchanges are also actively developing.
Special attention was given to expanding inter-parliamentary dialogue, including cooperation at the level of specialized committees, which will help bring nations closer together, promote joint initiatives, and strengthen interregional ties and humanitarian cooperation.
