Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11 October in Ashgabat, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the International Forum "The Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – The Foundation of Peace and Development," dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Turkmen poet and philosopher Magtymguly Pyragy.
The event was chaired by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and included high-level representatives from regional countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran, Pakistan, Mongolia, and international organizations.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the significance of the forum in strengthening fraternal ties and promoting shared spiritual heritage. He noted that the works of Magtymguly Pyragy enriched not only Eastern but also world literature, and that Uzbekistan holds the poet in high regard, especially since he studied in Khiva and revered Alisher Navoi.
The President of Uzbekistan also expressed support for the upcoming global summit in Ashgabat next year, part of Turkmenistan’s initiative for the "International Year of Peace and Trust."
For his contributions to honoring the memory of Magtymguly Pyragy, Shavkat Mirziyoyev was awarded a commemorative medal.
