Shavkat Mirziyoyev Congratulates Media Professionals on Their Professional Holiday

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev extended his congratulations to press and media professionals on the occasion of their professional holiday, celebrated annually on 27 June.

In his message, the head of state emphasized the growing importance and influence of mass media in today’s world, amid ongoing global instability and rapidly changing socio-political landscapes. He noted that journalism plays a vital role in shaping public consciousness and safeguarding national interests, adding that the work of journalists who provide society with objective and reliable information is comparable in importance to the efforts of those defending the homeland.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to media representatives for their contributions to the historic reforms underway in Uzbekistan, underscoring that the development of the media sector is one of the key principles of building a democratic society. According to him, a new generation of journalists is emerging in the country—professionals known for their patriotism, integrity, and dedication to their mission.

At the same time, the President highlighted the need for continued efforts to ensure objectivity and legal compliance in the media, improve the professional skills of journalists, adopt modern communication formats, and foster a culture of information literacy and open dialogue among the public.

He also stressed the importance of combating negative phenomena, including corruption, through public oversight and information awareness efforts.

President Mirziyoyev reaffirmed that, under the state policy of the “New Uzbekistan,” supporting media professionals, encouraging creative initiative, developing media infrastructure, and strengthening human resources in the sector will remain national priorities.
