Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emomali Rahmon hold meeting in Khujand
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Shortly after arriving in Khujand, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
The leaders discussed key issues related to strengthening friendship, strategic partnership, and alliance, as well as the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.
At the beginning of the talks, the heads of state exchanged greetings on the occasion of the sacred holiday of Eid al-Fitr.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the high level of bilateral cooperation. In 2024, trade turnover between the two countries exceeded US$700 million. Joint projects in industry, energy, electrical engineering, textiles, and agriculture are being successfully implemented. Interregional ties and cultural and humanitarian exchanges are also actively developing.
The importance of accelerating joint projects, which will be further discussed at the upcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, was emphasized.
The leaders also exchanged views on regional issues, including preparations for upcoming multilateral summits in Uzbekistan.
