Shavkat Mirziyoyev advocates for expanding practical partnership with Vietnam
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 7 April, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with a delegation from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, headed by Chairman of the National Assembly, Chanh Thanh Man, who arrived in Tashkent on an official visit.
At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the Vietnamese delegation conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, President Luong Quang, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
The sides discussed in detail the prospects for strengthening comprehensive Uzbek-Vietnamese cooperation, with special emphasis on enhancing collaboration in trade, economic, and investment sectors.
The necessity of systematic and regular work between the governmental structures and relevant departments of both countries was highlighted. In this context, both sides expressed mutual interest in successfully organizing a session of the Intergovernmental Commission and a business forum in Hanoi later this year.
To actively promote new projects, an agreement was reached to develop a comprehensive program of industrial cooperation. Priority areas identified included energy, geology, petrochemicals, electrical engineering, textiles, and the agro-industrial sector.
The talks also focused on enhancing cultural and tourism ties. Practical steps included the introduction of a visa-free regime between the two countries.
The sides also agreed to intensify inter-parliamentary contacts to facilitate the implementation of the agreements and joint initiatives reached.
