Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said the video conference meeting on 8 January devoted to the implementation of investment projects that 2019 will be a turning point in the development of tourism.

The head of state, in particular, touched upon the tasks of the social complex of the Cabinet of Ministers and noted the need to strengthen the attraction of direct investments in the field of tourism.

- We are gradually creating all the conditions for tourism, provide ample opportunities for investors, business people. “2019 will be a turning point in the development of tourism,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The President put forward proposals for development of the sphere in his Address to the Oliy Majlis. In order to implement these proposals in accordance with the Presidential Decree from 5 January, the Concept of development of the tourism sector in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2019-2025 was approved. On the same day, a presidential decree approved a list of promising projects for the organization of hotels.

In 2017 almost 2.7 million people visited Uzbekistan and more than 5.3 million tourists in 2018. By 2025, it is planned to increase the number of foreign tourists to 7 million, as well as the annual income from the export of tourist services - up to 2 billion dollars.
