Sharif Khalilov wins maiden Paralympics medal for Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Judoka Sharif Khalilov of Uzbekistan won a silver medal in the weight category of 73 kg of Paralympic Games in London.

On his way to final, Khalilov defeated all his opponents with ippon. He defeated Mauricio Briceno of Venezuela.

Sharif Khalilov defeated Rodolfo Ramirez of Argentina in quarterfinal and Shakhban Kurbanov of Russia in semifinal.

In the final bout, Uzbek athlete lost to Ukrain’e Dmytro Solovey to win the silver medal of London Games.

Sharif Khalilov re-write history of Uzbekistan as he became the first athlete, who won a medal of Paralympics medal for Uzbekistan.

Uzbek athletes, so far, participated in two Paralympic Games in Athens (one athlete) and Beijing (two athletes). They did not win any medal at those Games.
