Share of services in Uzbek GDP reaches 50.5%

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Service sector of Uzbekistan showed fast growth and its share in gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan rose from 37% in 2000 to 50.5% in 2011, the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers on 19 January 2012.

Islam Karimov said that communication and informatization sector rose by 41.6%, which is positive trend and meets current requirements.

He said that the growth was achieved due to growth of number of internet and mobile communication users, as well as decrease of prices for Internet in 2011 by 22%.

President of Uzbekistan stated that currently 8 million people in Uzbekistan actively use internet.
