Shaanxi Province Allocates US$1.8 Million to Support Uzbek Youth Studying in China
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The government of China’s Shaanxi Province has allocated an education grant worth 13 million yuan (approximately US$1.8 million) to finance the studies of Uzbek students at Chang’an University.
This initiative follows the visit of a Shaanxi delegation led by Governor Zhao Gang, who participated in the opening ceremony of the Uzbek-Chinese Faculty of Transport at Tashkent State Transport University on 3 June 2025. During the visit, representatives from Chang’an University also met with local officials, paving the way for concrete academic initiatives.
According to the grant program’s conditions, 10 PhD candidates, 40 master’s students, and 60 undergraduate students from Uzbekistan will study in China. The educational model will follow a 1+1 format for master’s programs and 2+2 for undergraduate studies — with part of the education conducted in Uzbekistan and the remainder at Chang’an University.
This project marks a significant step forward in academic cooperation between Uzbekistan and China, giving Uzbek students access to international expertise, advanced education, and degrees from one of China’s leading technical universities.
