Sevimli TV Channel Fined for Illegal Use of Musical Works
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Justice has determined that Sevimli TV used musical works by author R. Khudoyberdiyev in several television programs without obtaining the proper permissions or signing a contract, according to the press service of the Intellectual Property Agency.
Furthermore, these works were posted on the Splay and YouTube platforms, making them accessible to a wide audience.
An administrative protocol was drawn up under Article 177-1 of the Code of Administrative Liability of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Violation of Copyright and Related Rights). The Mirabad District Criminal Court issued a decision to impose a fine on the offender under Part 1 of the mentioned article.
According to this article, officials may be fined an amount ranging from 5 to 10 basic calculation units, with the confiscation of counterfeit copies of works and related rights objects, as well as materials, equipment, and other means used for reproduction and distribution of the counterfeit.
Additionally, the legislation grants the author the right to demand compensation from the violator ranging from 20 to 1000 basic calculation units instead of damage reimbursement.
