Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Several attempts to import counterfeit US dollars were prevented in Tashkent and Andijan, the press service of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan reports.

Two residents of Andijan region agreed to sell US$500,000 counterfeit dollars for US$325,000, but were detained after bringing samples from Kyrgyzstan.

In another case, a resident of Surkhandarya region was detained in Tashkent for selling 19,250 counterfeit dollars, which he purchased from a resident of Kashkadarya region, who brought them from Russia.

Also in Tashkent, a resident of Bukhara was detained, transporting 8,900 counterfeit dollars from Turkey through Kyrgyzstan for sale.

In all cases, criminal cases have been initiated under Article 176 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (production and sale of counterfeit money).
