Uzbekistan 25/06/2024 Service companies to be established in neighborhoods
Service companies to be established in neighborhoods

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 25 June, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on proposals to improve the infrastructure of neighborhoods.

In Uzbekistan, all programs are implemented at the neighborhood level, where significant powers and opportunities are granted.

Therefore, it is important that living conditions and public spaces in neighborhoods meet high standards.

Currently, there are around 10,000 neighborhoods in the country. Of these, approximately 3,000 consist of apartment buildings and are served by 821 management companies. Over 6,400 more neighborhoods, where private houses are located, are improved through communal work activities (khoshar).

In connection with this, the establishment of neighborhood service companies is proposed. These organizations will focus on enhancing neighborhood infrastructure, maintaining cleanliness of streets and gutters, planting and caring for trees. They will also provide services for repairing communal networks, sorting, and removing waste on a contractual basis.

Selection of service companies will be carried out by the neighborhood council from among qualified entrepreneurs. Infrastructure improvements will be carried out based on neighborhood orders and under neighborhood supervision. To fund the services of these companies, 20 million soms will be allocated monthly from neighborhood funds. Additionally, these companies will offer over 20 different paid social services to the population.

This system aims to enhance neighborhood well-being, improve cleanliness culture, and foster community interaction among residents.

Moreover, it will provide employment opportunities for skilled workers and temporarily unemployed citizens.

During the presentation, it was noted that service companies will be piloted in 208 neighborhoods. Based on the results of this pilot project, the experience will be scaled across all neighborhoods in the country.
