Sepahan’s Aghily thrilled with draw
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Sepahan’s key defender Hadi Aghily is beaming over the kind draw his side received Monday for the 2010 AFC Champions League group stage, almost a mirror-repeat of 2007.

Sepahan, who qualified for the 2010 instalment as the fourth team in the Iran Pro League, were slotted with Al Ain (UAE), Al Shabab (KSA) and Pakhtakor (UZB) for the continental showcase.

“This is an open group and there is every chance for the teams to win or lose,” said the 28-year-old Aghily, who impressed one and all in 2007 when the Esfahan side surged to the final of the AFC Champions League only to lose to Urawa Reds of Japan.

Then Sepahan were grouped with Al Ain, Al Shabab and Syrians Al Ittihad and won their group by a clear margin.

“The only team Sepahan have not played is Pakhtakor. We have played against all the other teams,” said the defender.

When asked if Al Shabab would pose a problem this time round, Aghily said: “I don’t remember poor results against any of the Saudi teams. Team Melli don’t have a good record but this is not the case for Sepahan.”

“I have myself scored twice as a defender against Saudi sides,” reminisced Aghily.
