Seoul hosts “Republic of Korea – Central Asia” Cooperation Forum
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Sixth Republic of Korea – Central Asia Cooperation Forum was held in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, on 5 July 2012, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

Delegations of the Republic of Korea, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan participated at the forum. The delegation of Uzbekistan, which included representatives of ministries, departments and business circles, was led by Abdulaziz Kamilov, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Representatives of South Korea and Central Asian states congratulated with the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and five Central Asian states. They highly rated bilateral and multilateral cooperation, which has been gradually developing and expanding since 1992 and covering political, social-economic and cultural spheres.

The participants evaluated the results of the previous five forums and noted that it created conditions for discussing issues of strengthening and developing interaction in various areas, including in exchanging economic development, IT, agriculture, medicine and healthcare, electronic government, energy efficiency of economies. The sides agreed that the forum plays important role as platform for search of practical cooperation projects between South Korea and Central Asia.

At the forum, the sides exchanged opinion on “green technologies”, medicine and healthcare, which should ensure sustainable growth of Korea and Central Asian nations. The participants underlined that discussion of cooperation in these spheres were useful for future joint prosperity of South Korea and Central Asian states.

Representatives of the Republic of Korea and Central Asian states expressed satisfaction that the sides are actively interact in such spheres as energy and natural resources, construction and infrastructure, science and technologies, medicine and healthcare, finances, textile, agriculture. They agreed that they will do their best for further expanding and deepening cooperation in all directions of multi-vector cooperation.

Korean side expressed readiness to contribute to development of the region through expanding technological and personnel exchange, interacting in exchange of experience in economic development with the Central Asian nations to implement programmes on diversification of industry. The Central Asian nations welcomed the initiative of South Korea to support implementation of programmes on diversification of industry and expanding mutual beneficial cooperation.

The sides said that the forum can be effective mechanism in strengthening multi-vector cooperation both in bilateral and multilateral basis and agreed cooperate to ensure sustainable development of this forum, which serves expanding cooperation between South Korea and Central Asia.
