Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An online meeting was held yesterday between the co-chairs of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Commission of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sodyk Safaev and Zhakip Asanov.
During the meeting, the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations were discussed, as well as priority areas of cooperation in the context of the visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kazakhstan on 7-8 August.
The main focus was on the immediate tasks facing the Commission and mechanisms for joint parliamentary oversight of the implementation of high-level bilateral agreements.
The necessity of holding regular meetings of the Commission to discuss issues related to trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation, strengthening regional ties, parliamentary support for joint investment projects, and addressing problems in the Aral Sea region was emphasized.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to develop and adopt a new "Roadmap" for 2025-2026. Its discussion is scheduled for the upcoming meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Commission.
