Senator sends a request regarding the operation of buses with gas cylinders without the necessary tests

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defense and Security Kutbitdin Burkhanov sent a senatorial request to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Achilbay Ramatov regarding the operation of buses with gas cylinders without the necessary tests.

In recent years, the Government has stepped up efforts to guarantee the safety of gas-powered vehicles.

An important step was the release of Cabinet Resolution No. 815 of 11 October 2017. However, problems and miscalculations continue to arise, leading to threats to the health and lives of citizens due to the carelessness and negligence of the relevant organizations and employees.

According to the mentioned resolution, MAN A 22 CNG buses from JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan LLC JV are allowed to use LNG-3 gas cylinders.

The resolution also provided for the creation and equipping of a modern laboratory for testing these cylinders at Uzavtosanoat JSC, training of specialists and their accreditation with the Technical Regulation Agency.

However, the requirements specified in the resolution were never met, as a result of which more than 300 buses from JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan equipped with LNG-3 cylinders have been transporting passengers without the necessary tests since 2018.

This poses a danger to the life and health of thousands, if not millions, of citizens. An example is the incidents of gas cylinder explosions on buses.

In addition, according to Resolution No. 28 from 25 January 2023, it was allowed to purchase buses with Chinese-made LNG-3 cylinders, which are currently in use.

In connection with the need to prevent accidents on buses, as well as testing LNG-3 gas cylinders, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defense and Security Kutbitdin Burkhanov sent a request to Deputy Prime Minister Achilbay Ramatov.

The request contains questions about the reasons for the failure to fulfill the tasks set for creating a laboratory and training specialists specified in Resolution No. 815, as well as about the progress of creating these laboratories.

It is planned that the response to the request will be discussed at a meeting of the Senate Committee on Defense and Security.
