Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Senator G. Marufova, a member of the Senate Committee on Women and Gender Equality, participated in the Regional Review Meeting "Beijing+30" titled "Assessing Commitments to Accelerate Gender Equality in the EEC Region" held in Geneva, Switzerland, as part of the Uzbek delegation.
During the meeting, key issues were discussed concerning the acceleration of women’s economic rights, their participation in decision-making, and measures to combat violence against women and girls.
The Uzbek delegation shared information about its experiences in promoting gender equality, expanding women’s economic opportunities, and enhancing their roles in political processes, which received high praise from international experts and was recognized as one of the best practices in the region.
As part of the event, the Uzbek delegation met with N. Gumbonzvanda, the Deputy Executive Director of UN Women for Normative Support, UN System Coordination, and Program Results, who noted the significant progress Uzbekistan has made in women’s rights and urged the country to continue actively promoting women’s rights at both regional and global levels.
Following the event, recommendations were developed aimed at further accelerating the implementation of the commitments of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action in the region.
