Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 July 2023, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoev met with the head of the Mission of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE/ODIHR) to monitor by the election of Ursula Haczek.

An exchange of views took place on deepening cooperation with the OSCE/ODIHR in the field of improving the legislative process, as well as on the preparation and holding of the upcoming early presidential elections.

It was noted that the upcoming elections are important for making the process of ongoing large-scale reforms in the country irreversible.

An agreement was reached to continue effective cooperation in the implementation of recommendations for improving the electoral legislation and mechanisms for organizing elections in the country.

There was also an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.

The parties noted their readiness to further deepen cooperation and interaction on various aspects of the democratization of the electoral legislation.
