Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.con) -- Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, met with Gilbert Houngbo, Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), who is currently on a working visit to Uzbekistan.
Gilbert Houngbo highly praised the effective cooperation between the ILO and Uzbekistan and congratulated the country on its election to the Administrative Council of the organization. He emphasized that Uzbekistan has made significant progress thanks to strong political will and the personal commitment of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
It was also noted that the results of the Decent Work Country Programme for the period 2021-2025 in Uzbekistan serve as an example for many countries around the world.
During the meeting, discussions focused on developing the Decent Work Programme for the period 2026-2030, aligned with the objectives set at the 112th session of the International Labour Organization, as well as priority areas of Sustainable Development Goals.
In conclusion, both sides reached an agreement on further developing cooperation to reduce gender inequality and combat discrimination in the workplace, ensure employment for persons with disabilities, and create favorable and decent conditions for them.
