Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 9 July 2024, the Committee of the Senate on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments, and Tourism preliminarily reviewed laws to be presented at the next plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
The meeting was attended by senators, representatives of responsible ministries and agencies, members of the permanent commissions of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional councils of people’s deputies, experts, members of the Youth Parliament, as well as the media.
In particular, the Law "On the Ratification of the International Labour Organization Convention No. 175 on Part-Time Work (Geneva, 24 June 1994)" was discussed.
During the discussion, it was noted that the objective of the Convention is to ensure decent working conditions for workers employed on a part-time basis, as well as to protect them from discrimination in terms of wages and social security.
Senators emphasized that the ratification of the Convention will contribute to the improvement of national legislation and the effective implementation of international labor standards, demonstrating Uzbekistan’s commitment to fundamental international principles and standards in ensuring workers’ rights.
Additionally, the meeting extensively discussed the alignment of national legislation with the provisions of the Convention, expected outcomes of its ratification, and mechanisms for subsequent implementation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, relevant decisions of the Committee were adopted.
