Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 25 December 2024, a meeting of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments, and Tourism was held to review the progress on effectively implementing the "Conflict of Interest" Law.
The event was attended by Senate members, territorial Anti-Corruption Councils, experts, heads of regional administrations (hokimiyats), law enforcement agencies, state institutions and organizations, internal anti-corruption control department representatives, and media.
It was noted that in recent years, Uzbekistan has developed a regulatory framework and a system for preventing and combating corruption. Thanks to the digitalization of public services, the influence of the human factor has been minimized. Positive results have been achieved in ensuring transparency of government bodies and organizations.
The adoption of the "Conflict of Interest" Law this year has established important mechanisms for the timely identification and elimination of corruption risks.
To ensure the effective implementation of this Law, the President’s decree on "Measures for the Effective Organization of the Implementation of the Conflict of Interest Law" has assigned tasks to government bodies and organizations.
It was decided that responsible ministries and agencies will report on the progress of implementing these tasks during committee meetings.
Reports from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade, and the Committee on Tourism were presented regarding the effective implementation of the law.
In particular, it was emphasized that internal anti-corruption control systems are functioning at an insufficiently effective level, creating conditions for legal violations.
The senators highlighted that such situations, which contradict the law, require effective work from every member of the territorial Anti-Corruption Council to fully implement the assigned tasks, promptly detect and prevent corruption offenses, and eliminate their consequences.
At the end of the meeting, the Committee made a decision to strengthen anti-corruption efforts, eliminate violations, and improve the implementation of the law.
In accordance with the decree, ministries and departments have been tasked with taking measures to enhance the effectiveness of anti-corruption efforts, and corresponding instructions were given.
